What does it do? In TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine)

This formula can inhibit excitation caused by an overabundance of liver energy and exercise a sedative effect on the liver, thus the name "Yi Gan San Jia Chen Pi Ban Xia Tang".
The Uncaria(Gou Teng) in this formula is a sedative and analgesic, combining with Bupleurum(Chai Hu) and Glycyrrhiza(Gan Cao) to relax the tension of the liver energy and sedate the nerves. Angelica(Dong Gui) strengthens blood circulation. Cnidium(Chuan Xiong) causes smooth circulation of the blood in the liver. Poria(Fu Ling) and Atractylodes(Bai Shu) eliminate retained fluids.
This formula is helpful of nocturnal crying of infants, poor sleep, epilepsy, neurological diseases, hysteria, menopausal disorders, grinding of the teeth during sleep, etc.
