What does it do? In TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine)

This formula is effective in treating epigastric lumps, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite or borborygmus with diarrhea.
The Pinellia(Ban Xia) in this formula eliminates fluid retained by the stomach. When combined with Zingiber(Gan Jiang), it can stop nausea and vomiting. Coptis(Huang Lian) and Scutellaria(Huang Qin) relieve gastrointestinal inflammation; they have a bitter taste and are tonics for the stomach. Codonopsis(Dang Shen) and Zingiber officinale(Gan Jiang) can invigorate the circulation of the blood in the gastrointestinal tract, hastening the recovery of healthy gastrointestinal function. Glycyrrhiza(Gan Cao) and Zizyphus(Da Zao) regulate the effects of all the herbs and strengthen their combined effect.
