What does it do? In TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine)
Lose of energy, injuries and bleeding during the process of childbirth cause a depletion of the child-bearing woman's primordial energy, resulting in unsatisfactory postpartum recovery, bringing on many different syndromes.
This formula is widely used not only to aid the. whole body's postpartum recovery, but also to reinforce the function of uterus contraction and facilitate the elimination of blood stasis residual. Thus, it relieves abdominal pain caused after the contraction of the uterus following delivery. Sheng Hua Tang formula promotes blood circulation, invigorates the blood, warms the body and alleviates abdominal pain. It uses a large dosage of Angelica(Dong Gui) as its chief herb to tonify and invigorate the blood, eliminate blood stasis, and generate new blood. Cnidium(Chuan Xiong) promotes the Qi and blood circulation. Prunus(Tao Ren) invigorates the blood, eliminates blood stasis, and acts as an adjuvant herb. Zingiber(Gan Jiang) dispels coldness, warms the meridians and relieves pain. Yellow wine enters the blood stream and is an adjuvant. Glycyrrbiza(Gan Cao) harmonizes the effect of all the herbs.
