What does it do? In TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine)
This formula incorporates Depuratum mirabilitum(Mang Xiao) as its primary ingredient and is mainly used to help dryness symptoms and excess symptoms, foremost among these being constipation and abdominal fullness: Although this formula uses both Depuratum(Mang Xiao) and Rheum(Da Huang), Citrus aurantium(Zhi Shi) and Magnolia officinalis(Hou Po) are not used, while Glycyrrhiza glabra(Gan Cao) is added to make the third and final ingredient of this formula. Glycyrrhiza glabra(Gan Cao) moderates the function of the Middle Jiao and regulates the effect of Rheum(Da Huang) and Depuratum(Mang Xiao) while it gradually exerts its own therapeutic effect. Although its laxative effect is stronger than that of ?Xiao Cheng Qi Tang?, it will not harm the body's healthy energy. The name of this formula, "Tiao Wei Cheng Qi Tang", points to its laxative effect and its ability to regulate gastric function.
This formula is helpful of halitosis, redness of the eyes, swelling and pain of the gums, acute febrile diseases accompanied by constipation, fever characterized by no aversion to cold, dryness of the mouth and tongue, and habitual constipation among old people.
